Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, has said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is not doing enough to police Iran’s nuclear activities and is at risk of becoming politicised and irrelevant. This came after the IAEA reported that Iran had answered satisfactorily one case of suspicious uranium particles and re-installed monitoring equipment originally put in place under the now-defunct 2015 nuclear deal. Netanyahu has threatened to launch pre-emptive military strikes if diplomacy fails. Iran has denied wanting or planning to enrich enough uranium for two bombs. The IAEA did not immediately comment on Netanyahu’s criticism.
